EPES Testing, Inc. FAQ

  1. How do I get a sample of a test?
Samples consist of one page from the test and a page from the teachers supplement that lists the skills covered in the test.   Samples are available in several ways:
    (a) There are a number of sample items on our web site – http://www.epes.com -- just load it and follow the directions.
    (b) We can mail or fax samples to you if you are unable to download them..

  2. Can I review your materials before I purchase them?
We can send you up to 5 tests for 30 days to review.   If you chose to keep them, just pay the invoice that will be enclosed.   You may return the test within 30 days in sellable condition.   We will credit your account for the cost of the tests (minus the shipping/handling) plus you pay the return charges.

  3. How long will it take my order to get to me?
We fill orders within two working days and then ship by UPS.   Usually it takes 4-7 days to get to you.   If you need your order faster, you may have it shipped 2nd day air or overnight for which you pay the actual additional costs.

  4. What do your tests look like?
The Practice Tests are black line masters that can be duplicated as many times as needed but only within your school. We offer Practice Tests in all subjects for most standardized test in most grades K-11 and several state tests. Go to www.epes.com/50.html for a complete review of tests available. A free Teacher Supplement with answer key is included with the purchase of each test. Tests cost $30 for individual subjects or $115 for sets which include all 5 subjects in one grade level.
  5. Are you a sole source company?
Yes we are.   If needed, we can fax you a sole source letter for your records.

  6. Are your test scores normed?
Our test scores are not normed.   They are practice tests only; scores are based on the percent that each student gets correct.

  7. We need a vendor number.   Do you have one?
We have a list of vendor numbers for current customers.   If you need a vendor number for your school or district and we do not have one, please supply us with the information to get a vendor number.

  8. Do I need a purchase order number?
We must have a purchase order number or you may prepay.   We also accept VISA and MASTERCARD

  9. What is your billing procedure?
School systems are invoiced and have 30 days in which to remit payment.
Home-school teachers or a teacher buying the test for personal use prepay for their materials.   We do not accept personal checks.
We do accept VISA and MASTERCARD.

  10. Can you ship materials to my home address?
    Normally we do not.

  11. Is there an answer sheet sent with my order if I choose to score the test myself?
Yes, every order includes a standard black and white bubble sheet that can be copied, but cannot be scanned.   Please consider our own inexpensive customized scan scoring service (see order #7005)

  12. Inexpensive Customized Scan Scoring Service.
Scan sheets: Scan sheets are 18¢ per student per test.   (For example, if you have a 3rd grade class with 20 students and each student will be taking all five tests (R,M,LA,SC,SS) then each student will need five scan sheets which will be 100 scan sheets.   Otherwise you need to figure the number of students times the number of tests taken.) We recommend that 3rd grade and up use the scan sheets.

  13. What is Keyboarding?
Keyboard scoring is suggested for K-2 grades (and some grade 3 prefer keyboarding).   Students mark their answers directly in the Practice Test booklet.   The test booklets are returned to EPES Testing to be scored (see #14 below).   Keyboarding is 40¢ per student per test.

  14. How do I send the completed scoring to EPES Testing?
Packaging: Tests need to be separated by teacher, subject, and grade; no sticky notes or paperclips.   Please double check that the appropriate teacher codes are filled in (if not, reports take longer than the one week turnaround).   Package must also include the blue TEACHER and SCHOOL CODE sheets.   A copy of the invoice needs to be included.   (If we have to sort and code your scan sheets or tests, there is an additional charge, minimum $25, depending on how long it take us.) We also recommend that you ship UPS.   (606 Peach St. Magnolia, AR 71753.)

  15. How soon will I get my scoring reports?
Scan sheets.   Please allow one week (from the day they arrive in our office) to do the scoring and reports.   We then ship UPS.
Keyboarding.   Please allow two weeks (from the day that they arrive in our office) to do the scoring and reports.   We then ship UPS.

  16. What will your reports actually tell me about how my students performed on the test?

race, gender, or a combination of race and gender as requested by
    school.   $1.00 each.

  17. What is the difference between EPES Testing and other Practice Tests?
Our Practice Tests cover the skills and objectives of the real test in multiple choice format.   Our Practice Tests are intended to help the teacher determine each student's skill level and to give the student practice in test taking procedures.
